Paula Patton
Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden), and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American and her mother,
who is caucasian is of German, English, and Dutch her ancestry. Her family
lived next to the 20th Century Fox lot as she was growing-up, and she was a
major fan of movies from her earliest days. Her mother, too, who loved good
films also taught at a school as was her father, an attorney. Paula said that
she attempted to get away as an innocent child through "pretending"
to pretend to be someone else than. So it's not a surprise that she appeared in
Hamilton Magnet Arts High School productions. Her most beloved role was of
"Abigail" in "The Crucible". In the end, she chose to take
a course in film at the University of Southern California in an summer program.
She won a 3-month assignment making documentaries for PBS. This led to her
being employed as a production assistant on television documentaries, as well
as on Howie Mandel's talk show. She then began to produce documentaries for
Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery Health Channel. Paula claims she
loves what she is doing but her ambition was the same. She took acting lessons
and then switched to becoming an actor. She was almost immediately successful
performing major roles in Hitch (2005), Idlewild (2006) and Idlewild (2006), as
well as the leading female character in Deja Vu (2006) opposite Denzel.
