Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer with Irish descent. The fiery, passionate characters she appeared in variety of American films were appreciated by the green-eyed beauty who had fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her stunning appearance and natural beauty were well-received. She was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her portrayals onscreen reflect her brave, strong spirit. She fought for recognition and survival in a male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and would not compromise her reputation or respect to get the roles she was able to get by merit. She stood up for the injustices and unfair treatment of female actors during her film career. She also gained numerous supporters. The autobiography of her, 'Tis herself released in 2004 provided an honest and authentic story of her entire life's experiences, including the struggle to climb the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous lady who was not frightened of making her own mistakes. She appeared in more than 60 films, and became a cult international star. Following her departure from Parra her second marriage, she got married in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and a pioneer in transatlantic aviation, to name several accomplishments. O'Hara went on to retire a few years after they got married. Blair, however, was killed in a tragic crash on a plane in the year 1978. O'Hara's happiness lasted only a few days. In the same year she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and needed immediate surgery. She recovered eventually. Her health deteriorated throughout her life and she was diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six, short term memory loss, as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On 24 October 2015, O'Hara peacefully expired in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
