Amy Carlson

The family was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy Carlson spent most of her early life in the Chicago area. However, at the time Amy was in high school, she and her family also resided in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the oldest of three siblings: Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe with her entire family and on her own. They both worked as teachers and were able to travel and camp with each other every summer due to this. They've camped across every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy went to Rwanda after the war in 1994 to assist in relief efforts. Amy was a gifted artist from the beginning through acting in school productions, and winning writing contests. In high school she was a promising athlete who placed in the first ever 3200 meter relay in the Illinois girls track. After suffering an injury, Amy was able to go back to theater , and played a variety roles such as Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was an Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with a B.A. East Asian history, with the concentration in Theater. She moved to Chicago afterward and studied Improv at the Improv Olympic as well as acting at The Actor's Center. Soon after graduating, she was offered a permanent for the no-longer-running soap opera Another World (1964). The category she was nominated for is "Outstanding support actress on an Daytime Drama Series", she has been nominated to Daytime Emmy Awards. Her most memorable roles have been of strong women in the roles of Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen as Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is still working on film and writing.
